About us

The goal of this group is to ensure their voices are heard

People with learning disabilities have a strong voice, but they often face barriers and are not always taken seriously. Hear our Roar aims to change that. It provides a safe space for members to speak up, connect with leaders and influence decisions that affect their lives.

From the start, it was agreed this group should be led by people with learning disabilities. After three successful meetings at the Y Centre in Perth, the first meeting of 2025 was a big moment—members voted for their new leaders!

Hear our Roar is a safe space for people to share ideas, concerns, and opinions, ensuring that issues affecting people with learning disabilities get the attention they deserve. With our new leaders now in place, we’re excited to see what the future holds!

Hear our Roar will continue meeting in 2026 at the Chapterhouse, St Ninians Cathedral in Perth.

Statement from the Charter for Involvement

“It used to be that other people spoke for you, and nothing ever got done. Now we speak for ourselves and have much more control over things.”
